No. 005 by Mahir Yavuz. Each visit picks a well-known S&P 500 company and turns its last year of daily closing prices into a mountain range. The crest is the price, a year ago on the left and the last close on the right. The ranges behind it are the 50-day and 200-day averages, and the weather follows how the year went: a clear golden morning for a year up, overcast for a flat one, a stormy dusk for a year down. Each company always stands in the same kind of land, granite peaks, autumn larch, red-rock mesas, black volcanic rock, heather moor or pale limestone walls, picked from its ticker.
Height is the log of the price, at a fixed scale, so a quiet year stays in green foothills and a stock that doubled reaches the snow.
The picture is Micron (MU) in the year to 28 Oct 2026, up 343%: snowy spires above the clouds.
